CacheSentry
Pro is a program that takes over the management of the Internet Explorer (and
AOL) web browser cache. It fixes some bugs in the cache handling and offers
some powerful tools for doing maintenence work on the cache.

CacheSentry Pro is a new version (and nearly complete rewrite from the ground up) of our popular Internet Explorer cache manager, CacheSentry. It has all of the functionality of the original version, and now includes several powerful new features:
Tabbed user interface - Settings and displays are grouped by category, thus allowing each category more room to display in a more intuitive manner.
Totally customizable cache management strategies - The original CacheSentry locked you into a single cache management strategy, with the only settings being the cache size, cookie expiration age, and what types of strays to remove. With CacheSentry Pro, you can now create multiple cache managers to create your own categories of cached content and these categories can be deleted or spared from deletion depending on the actions you apply to that category's cache manager.
Categories can be specified by filtering the content CacheSentry Pro sees by the type (normal, offline, stray file, stray URL, cookie, or a combination of each), by the URL or filename (you specify a pattern to match), by file size, and by how old the content is.
After a manager has categorized its content, you tell it when and if it should be deleted. Should it be deleted immediately or when the cache is full? You have additional control by telling CacheSentry Pro whether the content in a category should be included in the cache size calculations. This means CacheSentry Pro can temporarily "ignore" content when it comes into the cache so it doesn't push out content that you do care about. (The original CacheSentry already does this for one type of file - files larger than 1 megabyte. With Pro, now you can create this feature for any type of file!)
Finally, the customizable managers allow you to do something unique with the cache: You can create a cache management style that forces some or all of the content to exist in the cache for a period of time you specify instead of managing by cache size. Make some or all of the content stay for a day, week, month, year or longer, or anything in between.
Enhanced activity logging - Now you can specify the size of the activity log to over 32,000 lines of text! Plus the activity logged is more informative, giving you useful information as to what manager is deleting a group of files, and how old the last deleted file was so you can adjust the cache size to give you more control over how long you want files to stay around. This display of the age of files that are deleted allows you to fine tune the size of your cache so content stays around for however long you require.
Cache tools - CacheSentry Pro includes some new utilities for backing up and restoring the cache, right inside the program! You can filter the backup by URL text or back up the entire cache. You can also back up cookies if you wish. CacheSentry Pro also allows you to clear the cache and reduce the index.dat file down to it's smallest size. Used in conjuction with the cache restore feature, you can create an optimized index.dat file! This feature also allows you to repair a corrupted INDEX.DAT file without having to lose the contents of the cache!
Offline tray button - CacheSentry Pro can optionally put a button in the notification tray that lets you enable or disable the global offline state. This means you don't have to open Internet Explorer or Outlook Express to go into offline mode for offline browsing of the cache.
Multiple language support - CacheSentry Pro is ready to support multiple languages. Just edit a file named "language.txt" with a Unicode text editor like Notepad or Wordpad and replace the English text with the language of your choice. The messages, dialog text, buttons, and help balloons will use the text specified in the file. As international users create other language.txt files we'll make them available for download.
Autostart - Pro has a checkbox option to automatically make it start when you log in. No more hassle of creating a shortcut in the Start Menu Startup Folder!
Manual and simulated management - Don't want CacheSentry Pro to automatically scan the cache every few minutes? Disable automanagement and you manually control when content is deleted with the click of a button. Now you won't need most of those cache and cookie cleaning programs, as CacheSentry Pro offers the same manual functionality as they do. Plus, you can develop and test your own cache managers by using the "simulate" button which simulates a management pass so you can see the results and make any necessary changes to the settings before committing to a final setup.
Scan times are adjustable - CacheSentry has (for the most part) fixed scanning time delays. With Pro, you can adjust how often the cache is scanned and managed depending on your needs and computer's processing power. Also, with the original CacheSentry, it only scanned for strays on startup and once every 24 hours after that (if it was never exited). In Pro, you can scan for strays every scan, every 500 scans or anything inbetween. Scanning for strays doubles the amount of time it takes to do a management cycle so you can adjust this to meet your needs.
Technical info window - The information that was displayed in the activity window during CacheSentry's startup is now displayed in its own tab. Additionally, Pro displays important version information on critical internet DLL's so you can find out if your system is using the latest security patches. All of this information can be saved to a text file for tech support with the click of a button.
Of course, CacheSentry Pro has all of the other features in CacheSentry, including the index.dat size bugfix, immediate mode, kiosk mode (now an option in the settings) and activity logging to a file feature.
When you download CacheSentry Pro, it will run for 100+ days(!) before the evaluation period ends. In order to use it after that (and avoid the annoying nag windows that appear sooner :-) you can purchase a registration key in order to unlock the program for $15. After that, it will never expire nor nag you again, and all updates to CacheSentry Pro are free for life to registered users.
