In addition to the tabbed control that contains
the various pages of settings and tools, the main window also has a set of
buttons that are always available no matter which page you are looking at
inside CacheSentry Pro.
Cache size display
The cache size display is located in the upper right corner of the main window
and displays the sum of the size of the content that is currently in the cache
folder. This size is calculated by the cache managers that are set up in the
Cache Size Settings page. If this display is blank, it means the cache has not
yet been scanned. It is updated whenever a manual scan, simulation, or
automatic scan are done.
Manual scan button
The large button under the cache size display immediately triggers a full cache
management cycle. You can use this button to manually manage the cache yourself
instead of leaving CacheSentry Pro running in the background all of the time.
Any deletions will be logged in the activity window.
Simulate cache management cycle
Use this button to simulate a cache management cycle in order to test any cache
managers you edit or create. Any simulated deletions will be logged in the
activity window, however no actual files will be deleted.
Enable automatic management
Toggles on and off the automatic management feature. When this is enabled,
CacheSentry Pro will automatically scan the cache every few minutes (depending
on how you have set the time to wait between scans) and automatically go to
sleep when the cache is not being used. If you have the status tray
notification icon enabled, it will display this icon 
when you turn off automatic management. Also, automatic management is
temporarily disabled when you have the Cache Size Settings page open so you can
make changes to the managers without having to worry about those changes being
executed without having been tested.
Enable balloon help
Turns on and off the help balloons that appear when you hover the mouse over
the various controls for a few seconds. Note that for the manager selector
button in the Cache Size Settings page you must hover the mouse over the down
arrow in order to see the help balloon.
View help file
Clicking this button will open a help file that relates to the currently open
settings/tools page.
Unlock trial version
If you have not yet purchased and entered a registration key to unlock the
trial version of CacheSentry Pro, this button will be present. Clicking this
button will open a window that will allow you to enter the registration key.
You will also find a button to take you directly to the EnigmaticSoftware web
page that will allow you to purchase a registration key in case you do not yet
have one. Once you have entered a registration key, this button will disappear.

When you are entering the
registration key it will automatically insert any dashes '-' for you as
necessary. The OK button to accept the key will remain disabled until the
program determines the key entered is complete and does not have errors in it.
It will also warn you if you made a mistake after you finish entering the key.
You can simply copy and paste the key from where you got it if you want to be
sure it is error free. |
Kill the sentry
Clicking this button exits CacheSentry Pro. The current settings and managers
will be saved and the program will stop running and will no longer manage the
cache if it was in automanage mode.
Hide this window
Clicking this button will close the main window but keep the program running in
the background. The current settings will be saved when the window closes. If
you have either the status or online/offline tray notification icons enabled,
you can right-click on them to reopen the main window. You can also reopen the
main window if you attempt to run another instance of CacheSentry Pro while a
version of it is still running.
